Dictionary Hungarian English App Reviews

Much better now after they added pronunciation. Of course some basic understanding of Hungarian grammar is necessary to take full advantage.

In general, its not a bad app, but my biggest complaint is that for many words and expressions, it gives a very colloquial, British, I assume, translation, that we in the US do not understand at all and thus are not helped by it. I would think they would give a more direct translation of these expressions as well, so that we could actually make use of them. For instance, I just saw in a lesson podcast the use of the "kaja", translated there as "food". I knew this is not the usual word for "food", so I looked it up in this dictionary, and it says "tuck"--?????? To us this means "to tuck in your shirt" or something like that. But I looked in an English dictionary and saw that "tuck" is the British version of our "grub" or "chow". That is only one example out of many I am always running across. Maybe someone should consider making a dictionary for American usage.

Do not buy!! I repeat do not buy!! Only giving one star because I have to.

I am useing this app more than two years now and it is very helpful and always handy! Helping me out with spelling and pronouncing. Sometimes it isnt has the words I am looking for, therefore 4*.

This is the best dictionary on the market it worth to buy it. The develipers can still improve the app when i think it cant get any better…

This is really worthwhile. So much better word coverage than others I tried. While the content is not quite as extensive as my paper Orszagh Laszlo dictionary, it is very thorough and the design is great, pronunciations (extra but reasonable) and browsing are a dream. The lookup is very fast. Great job!! Thank you.

This dictionary is basically identical to the Sztaki Szotar available online. Nice to have on hand. Pretty good but each English word can sometimes have dozens of Hungarian words- not helpful when you are trying to figure out which to use.

Stopped working since OS 9 upgrade. Needs fixing

I have been using this dictionary for several years and have often marveled at how complete it is, easy to use, an all around great product! Highly recommended!

Its really hard to find a Hungarian dictionary. Since Im studying Hungarian, this has been a lifesaver. It could benefit from some basic words (for example, theres no "photography"), as well as conjugation for verbs, but otherwise, its very nice.
